How a bill gets paid
The route from message to settled bill is set out in full on its own page. This page is about the choice of method rather than the mechanism.
The 10 day window starts on the day the sender issues the payment request.

Compared with other ways to pay
Four points of comparison: time to payment, whether an account is required, the risk of a wrong reference, and what happens if the payment fails.
| Way to pay | Time to payment | Account required | Risk of wrong reference | If the payment fails |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remembill | Minutes, from link to approved payment | No, no login with Remembill | Low, the reference is pre-filled | You get a reminder with the same link and can try again |
| Bank transfer with OCR reference | Minutes if you are already signed in to your bank, otherwise longer | Yes, a bank account and an eID | Higher, the reference is typed by hand | The payment is stopped or misapplied and has to be corrected manually |
| Direct debit | Automatic on the due date, nothing to do, better than Remembill when it works | Yes, a mandate and a bank account | Low, the sender sets the reference | Recurring payments with payment built in from the start |
| Signing in to the sender's customer portal | Minutes to days, depending on whether you have an account | Yes, one account per sender | Low inside the portal | You handle it in the portal or through support |
| Paper bill | Days, postal delivery plus manual entry | Yes, in order to pay | Highest, everything is copied by hand | A reminder by post, with a risk of late fees |
Remembill supports recurring payments with payment built into the invoice from the start. The sender’s portal can provide account history, subscription changes or a way to dispute a charge. Choose the payment method that suits you and review any fee before approval.
Where the money goes
The amount moves from your account, card or wallet through a payment provider straight to the sender, with the correct reference. Remembill never moves the money itself.
Card payment scope: PCI DSS SAQ A. All card data is processed by payment providers. Never in Remembill's systems.
